SWIMMING IS OUR PASSION,
SWIMMING IN A GROUP
IS OUR PREFERENCE

Barcelona Swimmers was founded in 2015, when 11 swim buddies decided to get together and create a non-profit swimming club.
Although people often think of open water swimming as an individual sport, we see it as a group activity.
Swimming in the sea is a unique experience and we want safety to come first, whatever we do.

SWIMMERS Testimonials

“I give my stress to the sea and it gives me back calm. I give it my anger and it gives me back peace. The sea challenges me to be better, stronger, to resist. In the sea I feel free and at one with nature.”
BEGOÑA, Barcelona Swimmers
“Swimming in the sea is connecting with nature in a very personal way that everyone feels differently.
When you go into the sea you leave everything else behind. It’s just the sea and the waves and breeze, and me doing my strokes and breathing.”
FRANCESC, Barcelona Swimmers
“Swimming in the sea is my energy boost. It connects me to my world. And it gives me an enormous feeling of peace and freedom.”
LOLA, Barcelona Swimmers
“Every time I plunge into the sea, I enjoy new sensations: freedom, switching off, peace, weightlessness…I encourage everyone to do it because otherwise you’re missing out on 70% of the world.”
JAUME, Barcelona Swimmers
“The sea beckons me every day: its immensity, its movement, its colour, its smell…I love every minute of getting ready to go swimming and when I’m in the water and I melt into its waves, I feel bliss.”
PATRICIA, Barcelona Swimmers
“I’ve never been a strong swimmer and although I was drawn to swimming in the sea, I was very much in awe of it, a bit scared even. All that changed one day when I came across a bunch of swimmers on the beach in Barcelona in the middle of winter. They were obviously having a lot of fun. Not long after I was in the sea with them, and all my fears had suddenly vanished.”
FRANCESC, Barcelona Swimmers

OUR BASE CAMP

The club base camp is at the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC).

This is where we usually start our open water swims from.
The BISC has a protected seawater swimming area with direct access to the open sea, which means we can swim whatever the sea conditions.
There are changing rooms with direct access to the sea, a gym, sauna, a wetsuit cleaning and drying area, free parking, and a café.
Barcelona Swimmers members have free access to these facilities every day of the year (consult bisc calendar).
Address: Moll de la Vela, s/n, Parc del Fòrum (under the photovoltaic panel)
